You're Gonna Die Charlie

My general feeling today is a little grumpy, and a little angry, and here's why:

Desmond was shown, yet again, as one of the potential victims in next week's Lost. If they kill him, I'll be pissed.

But anyways...

There is more going on that has me a little angered.

I got a response from the editor back. Finally. After a month of waiting, hoping, fingers crossed, and the consensus?

The editor didn't like it. Said he didn't like the characters, thought the character interactions were flat, yadda yadda yadda.

And you know what? I can see that. I'm not the most pissed off b/c of the reaction, more the time it took to get the answer. So now I'm onto something. I had a vision one day after getting home from the gym, a thought, a feeling that pushed me forward. The screenplay is in the process of a rewrite and a very strong rewrite. General consensus on all of my screenplays have always been positive. I write in a very weird way but I've always been able to kick some serious ass with those.

So that's my next step. Keep my head in the screenplay business, and treat each comic script like a TV show. 22 pages is roughly the length of a standard half-hour show and the length of a standard comic. So if I can write a 144 page opus involving the end of the world, I can surely write a 22 page comic or TV length script that knocks the ball out of the park.

And I gave the editor 5 options to choose from. 5 vastly different tales and different characters interacting with different worlds. And that is where my heart is now. Fingers crossed, yet again, but I can't get ahead of myself. And I can't let a small defeat kill me. I'm still in the game, I just didn't block the shot or the field goal or the puck.

As Desmond might say: "I love ya Penny" (in thick Brogue).
